'Cute' Alpaca Leaps From Truck And Heads Off Along B.C. Highway: Police

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 22 May, 2015 11:15 AM
VERNON, B.C. — An apparently agitated alpaca is on the loose north of Vernon, B.C.

Don Raffen of Valley Auction says the animal jumped from the back of a pickup truck before it was taken inside to be sold.

RCMP Cpl. Mary Seniuk of the nearby detachment in Armstrong says officers corralled the alpaca off a highway because it was a traffic hazard.

She says the spotted grey and black alpaca from 100 Mile House decided to sprint and was last seen heading into a local mill.

Seniuk says the "cute" alpaca has likely already been auctioned off.

She says it's not the first runaway alpaca story she's heard about and notes the animals tend to hiss at people.
