Cyclist struck in Maple Ridge

On Tuesday at approximately 9:05 a.m. police responded to a report of motor vehicle incident in which a cyclist was struck by a vehicle.

Eastbound lanes on Lougheed Highway were completely shut down between Laity Street and 216 Street, while westbound lanes are open.

Ridge Meadows RCMP frontline members were first on scene and with support from BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) assessed that the cyclist suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The cyclist was transported to hospital.

The driver of the vehicle cooperated with police and remained on scene. Impairment is not being a considered a factor in this collision.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation.

Police are still seeking witnesses, video surveillance or dash cam footage from the area. If you have information for the police please contact the Ridge Meadows RCMP.
