Disgraced Hockey Coach, Convicted Sex Offender Graham James Seeking Full Parole

The Canadian Press, 22 Jul, 2016 01:52 PM
Disgraced junior hockey coach and convicted sex offender Graham James is seeking full parole with the support of his case workers.

James is serving a seven-year sentence for sexually assaulting players he coached in the late 1980s and early '90s with the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League.

Documents from the Parole Board of Canada show James's day parole has been extended for two months while the board schedules a hearing on his request for more freedom.

James, who is 63, was granted day parole in January.

The board's decision states James has expressed guilt and remorse for the damage he caused to his victims.

Players James sexually assaulted include retired Calgary Flames star Theo Fleury, one-time NHLer Sheldon Kennedy and Kennedy's cousin, former player Todd Holt.
