  • Driver flees after hitting pedestrians in Surrey, B.C., one in critical condition

A man is fighting for his life after hit-and-run in the Metro Vancouver city of Surrey overnight that saw a vehicle strike two pedestrians.

Surrey police say the crash happened near 88th Avenue and Nordel Way at around 11:24 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the male driver fled and the vehicle was found abandoned nearby soon after.

They say an adult male pedestrian was taken to hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have closed down the road where the crash happened and are looking into the cause.

They are urging any witnesses or those who captured dashcam footage of the crash to contact police immediately.
