Driver Missing Near Hope, B.C., After Storm Sweeps Logging Truck From Road

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 19 Nov, 2015 11:57 AM
HOPE, B.C. — Search and rescue crews are looking for a man missing in the mountains north of Hope, B.C.

Police say a logging truck is believed to have been washed off of a forest service road in Tuesday's storm.

The wrecked vehicle was found more than 200 metres below the road in a ravine, but the truck's 61-year-old driver has not been found.

Staff Sgt. Karol Rehdner with Hope RCMP says the truck was being loaded when it was swept from the road.

He says the area was lashed by high winds during the storm.

Rescue crews are waiting for geologists to declare the area stable before they head into the ravine to look for the driver.
