Drugs, Weapons Seizure Linked To Brothers Keepers Gang Say Delta Police

Darpan News Desk, 25 Feb, 2019 10:00 PM

DELTA, B.C. — Police in Delta, B.C., say they have seized a significant amount of drugs, including a suspected bulk quantity of fentanyl, from a known criminal organization.

Delta police say in a news release that drugs and weapons were recovered on Feb. 15 when members of their drug section went into a Surrey home linked to the so-called Brothers Keepers gang.

Investigators also recovered a loaded firearm, replica restricted firearm and two bullet-proof vests.

Police say three people in the home were taken into custody and later released while Crown counsel makes a decision on possible charges.

The investigation stretched over several months and police say evidence will be forwarded to Crown seeking approval for charges against several members and associates of the gang.

Staff Sgt. Heath Newton, who led the investigation, says the seizure highlights the dangers and violence associated to drug trafficking.

"This investigation is also an example of the ongoing efforts by police to stem the opioid crisis and the gang crime gripping the Lower Mainland and the province at large," Newton says in the release.
