  • Edmonton Man Facing Several Charges After Disturbance On WestJet Flight
EDMONTON — RCMP have laid charges against a 20-year-old man after a disturbance on a WestJet flight from Toronto to Edmonton.

Passengers on the flight arriving in Edmonton in the early morning hours of Aug. 31 told reporters a man wearing a backpack twice walked from the back of the plane to the front during the last half of the four-hour flight.

They said the  man approached the flight attendant each time and asked to get off the plane while it was still in the air.

Passengers say a flight attendant asked for help and they stepped in to restrain the man.

Yusuf Hassan is charged with mischief under the Criminal Code and two counts under the Aeronautics Act — endanger the safety or security of an aircraft and failure to comply with air crew.

He is to appear in court in Leduc on Thursday.
