Emily Carr Work Expected To Fetch Up To $600,000 At Heffel Spring Auction

    VANCOUVER — Paintings by Canadian artists Emily Carr, Paul-Emile Borduas and Tom Thomson are among the highlights of tonight's Heffel spring auction in Vancouver.
     
    Seven Carr works are on offer, including "Forest Light" from her mature period, which has a pre-sale estimate of $400,000-$600,000.
     
    Two Borduas works also have hefty price tags: "Chant d'ete" has a pre-sale estimate of $400,000-$500,000 and "Tendresse des gris" is valued at $300,000-$400,000.
     
    Meanwhile, Thomson's "Woods in Winter" is expected to fetch $250,000-$350,000.
     
    A total of 145 lots are in the sale, which is expected to achieve between $7 million and $10 million.
     
    Other highlights include B.C. Binning's "Painted Structure in Space," which was found at a garage sale and is expected to achieve $10,000-$15,000.
