  • Environment Canada Confirms Two Tornadoes Hit Windsor, Ont., Area
WINDSOR, Ont. — Environment Canada confirms that two tornadoes touched down in the Windsor, Ont., area earlier this week.

Teams surveying the damage have concluded that an EF1-category tornado hit the bedroom community of LaSalle with wind speeds between 135 and 175 kilometres per hour Wednesday night.

They found a second twister, this one an EF2-category with winds between 200 and 220 kilometres per hour, struck Windsor shortly afterward.

They say that makes it the most powerful tornado in Ontario so far this year. Seven have been confirmed to date.

Wednesday's storm damaged about 15 homes and injured four people, though none were critically hurt.

Environment Canada is preparing its final report on the storm.
