Experienced Outdoorsman Knew What To Do After Getting Lost In Cariboo Bush

The Canadian Press, 22 Sep, 2015 01:16 PM
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A 74-year-old Metro Vancouver hunter has been found safe after spending a chilly night in the bush near Likely, B.C.

RCMP in Williams Lake say the man was spotted mid-morning Tuesday, about 16 hours after he was reported overdue while hunting with two others in the Cariboo.

Cpl. Dave Tyreman says rescuers credit the hunter for staying put as soon as he realized he was lost in the Spanish Lake area, about 20 kilometres east of Likely.

Williams Lake Search and Rescue members could not find the unnamed man before nightfall Monday.

He was located shortly after the search resumed Tuesday morning.

Tyreman says the experienced outdoorsman is in good condition, despite the unexpected overnight stay in the woods.
