One person is dead and another was taken to hospital after a house fire in the Blackpool area, about 115 kilometres north of Kamloops.

A statement from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District says the home was fully engulfed when firefighters responded to the blaze yesterday. 

It says the structure collapsed within 30 minutes of the initial report, and one person was airlifted to hospital for treatment of burns.

The district says a man in his 20s died in the fire, and its cause is under investigation.

One of the Indian nationals accused of murdering British Columbia Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar says in a social media video that he received a Canadian study permit with the help of an Indian immigration consultancy.
