HALIFAX — A 36-year-old woman who teaches at a Nova Scotia school has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference involving a junior high student.

The RCMP say in a news release that Sarah Allt Harnish of Stillwater Lake, N.S., will appear in Halifax provincial court on May 3 to face the charges.

Police declined to provide the age or gender of the young person involved, but say the student was a junior high school student at the Five Bridges Junior High School where the accused teaches.

Harnish has been released on conditions including no contact with the victim or other persons under the age of 16, and she is to remain away from schools and other places frequented by children.
