Fighting fire with fire: New school-based program to fight radicalization

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 17 Feb, 2015 11:29 AM

CALGARY — A new online program has been launched to help battle extreme radicalization amongst young people.

Extreme Dialogue is believed to be Canada's first school-based program that tackles the issue of radicalization.

It features films and educational resources using the stories of real people to help youth challenge extremist ideas in the face of the threat from violent extremism.

Christianne Boudreau, whose son was killed fighting for the Islamic State in Syria, tells her story in a video letter to her boy.

She says she wishes she had been able to help him and to be with him in his final moments.

The program is available to schools and community groups and is aimed at teens aged 14 and 18.
