Float Plane Crashes In B.C. Gulf Island, Two People Picked Up By Life Boat

The Canadian Press, 09 Feb, 2015 04:13 PM
VANCOUVER — The Canadian Coast Guard says two occupants have been rescued from a float plane that crashed between two of B.C.'s Gulf Islands.

Spokesman Dan Bate says the commercial plane was taking off from Trincomali Channel, located between Galiano and Salt Spring Island, in the Salish Sea, when it crashed just before 2 p.m.

Bate says a coast guard lifeboat responded and was transporting the individuals to the Salt Spring Island community of Ganges.

He says the RCMP was towing the float plane to a nearby island.

Bate says he didn't know what type of injuries, if any, the occupants suffered.
