Former WHL head coach in B.C. faces drunk and dangerous driving charges

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 08 Oct, 2014 12:35 PM
KAMLOOPS, B.C. - The former head coach of the WHL's Kamloops Blazers is facing drunk driving and dangerous driving charges after being arrested by B.C. RCMP in July.

Dave Hunchak has been charged with one count each of impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol content over .08 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Hunchak appeared in provincial court on Tuesday, one month after the charges were sworn in.

Blazers general manager Craig Bonner declined comment on the charges but he says Hunchak, who left the team suddenly last January, is no longer under contract.

Hunchak was the head coach of the Moose Jaw Warriors for four seasons before he joined the Blazers as an associate coach in 2012 and then took over as head coach a year later.

His next court appearance is scheduled for mid-November. (CFJC)
