Frantic Call Summons Police During Attack In Vancouver Island Home

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 19 Nov, 2015 01:07 PM
QUALICUM BEACH, B.C. — A couple in their 70s and a 46-year-old suspect have all been rushed to hospital with severe injuries in the wake of an attack in a Vancouver Island home.

Oceanside RCMP rushed to the Qualicum Beach, B.C., home just after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

An unidentified caller in the house reported several assaults were underway as officers responded and police found the 72-year-old woman and 76-year-old man with critical injuries as they arrived.

The suspect was also in the house suffering from what are believed to be self-inflicted wounds, although investigators have not described the weapon used by the attacker.

Mounties say the three people are known to each other, but a motive for the assaults has not been released.

The Independent Investigations Office has been contacted because the 911 call was underway while the attacks were continuing and the IIO must be informed if police are involved when a serious injury occurs.
