G&F Employees And Members Raise Over $29,000 For BC Children's Hospital Foundation

Darpan News Desk IANS, 14 Jun, 2017 11:30 AM
Burnaby, BC – On Sunday, June 4, G&F Financial Group, one of BC’s top ten credit unions, presented a cheque for $29,500 to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation (BCCHF) during their Miracle Weekend event, a moment that highlighted the generous support of G&F employees and members.

As a result of the 2017 fundraising campaign, BCCHF was able to raise over $20 million to help purchase life- saving equipment, conduct research into the treatment and prevention of childhood diseases and support educational programs across the province of BC.

This year, participating BC credit unions, including G&F Financial Group, dedicated their fundraising efforts into helping BCCHF purchase the hospital’s first ocular ultrasound which will be used to help with the early detection of pediatric eye cancers.

With the benefit of early detection, children who are diagnosed with these afflictions have a better chance of a full and healthy recovery.

In order to raise the funds for BCCHF, G&F employees took on a number of fundraising activities, such as Jeans Day, a slo-pitch tournament with other financial institutions, BINGO, 50/50 draws, music trivia competitions, gift basket raffle draws and more.

“As an organization, we are passionate about raising funds for local charities, like BCCHF, who do critical and life-saving work for the children and families in our communities. We are proud of our employees and members who showed amazing generosity and raised $29,500 this year, exceeding our initial goal of $25,000” say Co-CEOs Bill Kiss and Jeff Shewfelt.

G&F employees and members have supported BCCHF for over 15 years, fundraising and donating a cumulative total of over $280,000 in that time period.
