Greens Plan Facebook Video Updates From Paris Climate Conference

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 30 Nov, 2015 10:34 AM
OTTAWA — Green Leader Elizabeth May is working with Facebook Canada to broadcast live video updates from the global Paris climate conference.

May will be sharing observations and developments from COP21 using Live for Facebook Mentions, sharing video directly on her Facebook page.

The live video feature was launched by the social-media company in early August.

May plans to provide regular updates from Monday through Dec. 11, live from Le Bourget Exhibition Centre in Paris, where the COP21 negotiations will take place.

Green Party climate change critic Claire Martin, a former CBC meteorologist, will also be providing live video updates via her Facebook page.

Notices to media will be issued prior to updates.

Green spokesman Julian Morelli likened the social-media initiative to the party's use of Twitter in the recent election campaign to distribute May's points via video during televised debates.

"Maybe Canadians will be wanting to ask some specific questions, and I'm certain that Elizabeth would be able to answer those questions," he said Sunday.
