Help Surrey Police Find Stolen Military Medals

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 24 Jun, 2016 01:24 PM
Surrey RCMP is appealing to the public to help return military medals stolen during a residential break and enter earlier this month.

On June 14th between the hours of 11:00am and 4:00pm a home was broken into in the 6300 block of 126th Street. No witnesses to the event were located.

Among several items taken was a framed collection of WWII medals and keepsakes from the home owner’s deceased father. The collection, mounted and framed, has great sentimental value and cannot be replaced.

It’s hard to imagine the heartache felt by this victim at having some of the last few memories of his father being stolen, says Corporal Scotty Schumann. It defies logic as to why someone would even want to steal them given their value is purely sentimental. Hopefully the suspect will realize this and return the collection or someone will recognize it and help get it back to its rightful owner.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or go to www.solvecrime.ca.
