High speed chase on Surrey's Hwy 99

Darpan News Desk IANS, 12 Jul, 2023 12:43 PM
  • High speed chase on Surrey's Hwy 99

Surrey R-C-M-P have issued a warrant for the 44-year-old Langley owner of a high-end Mercedes after a suspect fled from a traffic stop last night, forcing closure of a section of Highway 99 though South Surrey.

Police say it started just after nine last night when the driver of the C-L-S-550 fled the traffic stop, and the vehicle was located a short time later on Highway 99 south of the Serpentine River overpass.

The driver ran into a wooded area and a police dog lost the scent, but officers found identification in the car -- along with what they say is evidence of drug trafficking.

The investigation closed the highway for hours, but traffic is now moving again.
