Homicide investigators join search for missing mom

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 15 Sep, 2021 03:11 PM
  • Homicide investigators join search for missing mom

A team of homicide investigators in British Columbia has joined the RCMP in investigating the case of a Langley woman who disappeared nearly three weeks ago.

Naomi Onotera was last seen near her home on Aug. 28, and the Mounties have confirmed she left without her car.

Sgt. David Lee of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says police are looking at Onotera's residence as part of their initial search.

However, he says the presence of officers, security and crime scene tape is not an indication of criminality involving anyone living at the home.

The 40-year-old woman is a kindergarten teacher and mother of an 18-month-old daughter.

He says the homicide team is asking for patience as the investigation continues and that Onotera's family has also asked for privacy.

Serious crimes investigators in Langley have appealed for information about the movements of her white 2018 Subaru Crosstrek any time after Aug. 25. They say the vehicle has a Greater Vancouver Zoo sticker on the passenger-side front window.
