  • Homicide team investigates suspicious death at B.C. nursing home

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case of a suspicious death at an Abbotsford, B.C., residential care home earlier this month.

Police say the case began on July 6, when the Abbotsford Regional Hospital alerted authorities that two patients from Menno Home had been hospitalized for medical emergencies that were suspicious in nature.

One of the patients died in hospital on July 10.

The Abbotsford Police Department's major crimes unit initially took on the investigation and police said Menno Home "immediately implemented additional safeguards" for residents' safety.

No further details of the nature of the medical emergencies have been released, with police citing the "sensitive" nature of the investigation.

Police are urging anyone with information on the case to contact IHIT.
