I Couldn’t Believe My Eyes: Coquitlam Man KULJEET SINGH DHALIWAL Nets $500000 In Jackpot Win

08 Jan, 2020 09:17 PM

Kuljeet Singh Dhaliwal wasn’t too surprised when he checked his dad’s lottery ticket and it wasn’t a winner, but Dhaliwal was shocked when he checked his own ticket and it turned out to be a $500K winner.

Dhaliwal won a breezy $500,000 after matching all seven numbers in one of the Maxmillion prizes during the January 3, 2020 Lotto Max draw.

The Coquitlam resident, who purchased the winning ticket at Richmond’s Shoppers Drug Mart at Cambie and No. 5 Road, split the $1 million Maxmillion prize with a winner in Ontario who had the same winning numbers.

“I was telling my dad someone in B.C. had won the Maxmillion,” said Dhaliwal. “He asked me to help him check his ticket, so I scanned it, but he didn’t win. My dad then reminded me to check my ticket — I pulled it out, scanned it, and couldn’t believe my eyes.”

Dhaliwal recalled his dad won $250 a few months ago and had been retelling the story ever since. “This is the now biggest win in the family ever and we’ll be telling this story for awhile.”

As for how he plans to celebrate, Dhaliwal said “This is an incredible way to start the New Year. We are already thinking of a family trip to the Galapagos Islands.”
