IHIT Responding To Apparent Homicide Near Metrotown Mall

Darpan News Desk , 03 Jan, 2018 10:28 AM

On January 2, 2018, just before 9 p.m., the Burnaby RCMP was called to the 6500-block of Telford Avenue after a report of a fight in progress. Upon police attendance, an adult male victim was located in medical distress. Despite all attempts to revive the individual they succumbed to their injuries.

It is early in the investigation but it does not appear to be a random act.

The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with the Burnaby RCMP.

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, no further information will be provided at this time. Further details and media availability will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation can call the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
