Immigration Officer Charged With Sexually Assaulting Woman Facing Deportation

The Canadian Press, 06 Apr, 2016 12:39 PM
HALIFAX — Police in Halifax have charged an immigration officer with sexual assault allegedly involving a woman who was facing deportation from Canada in 2003.

They say that Carie Dexter Willis of Pierrefonds, Que., used his influence as an officer with the Canada Border Services Agency to extort and assault the woman numerous times in 2003.

Const. Dianne Woodworth says the woman, who was 26 at the time, was scheduled to be deported in June of that year, but wouldn't disclose any other details about her.

Woodworth says officers had been investigating the matter since it was first referred to them in late 2014.

Willis was arrested Friday in Quebec and appeared in Dartmouth provincial court on Monday, where he faced charges of sexual assault, breach of trust and extortion.

He was released and is scheduled to return to court on May 9.
