Correctional officials say an inmate has died while in the custody of a prison in Abbotsford, B-C.
The Pacific Institution says in a statement that Douglas Gordon Martin died on July 14.
Martin had been serving a sentence of more than four years at the time of his death for a number of offences ranging from dangerous operation of vehicle and flight from a police officer.
He had been held at the prison since Oct. 23, 2020.
Prince Rupert R-C-M-P say in a media release that officers responded to a call to the 100 block of Silversides Drive on Tuesday evening. Police say they do not believe there is a risk to the public, nor is there an outstanding suspect in the case.
