Integrity Commissioner Calls For Sarnia, Ont,. Mayor Mike Bradley's Suspension For 3 Months

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 24 Jun, 2016 12:46 PM
  • Integrity Commissioner Calls For Sarnia, Ont,. Mayor Mike Bradley's Suspension For 3 Months
SARNIA, Ont. — The mayor of Sarnia, Ont., is firing back following a damning report by the city's integrity commissioner.

Robert Swayze has issued a scathing report saying Mayor Mike Bradley contravened the Council Code of Conduct and recommends Bradley's salary be suspended for the maximum three months permitted by the Ontario Municipal Act.

Swayze says he took no pleasure in writing the report, but feels the mayor’s relationship with staff is damaging to the city and must be publicly disclosed and addressed.

Two former senior managers filed requests for an inquiry, saying they resigned because of a toxic working environment at city hall.

Bradley says has made his share of mistakes and apologized if he's offended anyone when conducting city business, but says he's proud of his achievements.

Bradley also calls Swayze's report incomplete and biased, saying at least 20 key people were not interviewed.

"It was not a thorough investigation, nor was it fair and that is what really is disappointing," he said.

"This is a political-driven witch hunt by a number of members of council and I would suggest some others. I accept that. That's politics right?," Bradley said.
