It Was My Dream To Beat Top Ranking Players: Manika Batra

Darpan News Desk, 12 Jul, 2018 12:33 PM
India's star tennis player, Manika Batra's life has changed forever after she defeated world number four, Feng Tianwei as well as Zhou Yihan, in the finals of the Commonwealth Games this year.

The 22-year-old ace table tennis player who brought home the historic gold medal with her stunning singles victory is seen on the cover of Femina with other gold winners. In its special issue - 'India's Golden Girls,' Femina, India's leading women's brand is celebrating the women heroes who made India proud with their glorious win at the Commonwealth games this year.

The issue features interesting anecdotes on the lives of these ladies; Manika, while sharing her winning mantra with the magazine said, “It was my dream to beat top ranking players and I achieved that to make history at Commonwealth Games 2018.

When I play, I never focus on whether my opponent is the world number four or if she is from Singapore. I just play my game and give it my 100 per cent. That’s what I did at the Commonwealth Games 2018.”

The young tennis player is surely a rebel with clear life goals and strong will power. Manika shares the space with Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal, Manika Batra and Shreyasi Singh on the cover.
