Jury In Regina Convicts Pair In Death Of Four-Year-Old Girl And Harm Of Sister

IANS, 07 Feb, 2016 01:25 PM
REGINA — A Regina jury has convicted a woman of second-degree murder and a man of manslaughter in the death of a four-year-old girl after the pair were accused of denying the child and her younger sister food and purposely hurting them.

Tammy and Kevin Goforth were also found guilty of unlawfully causing bodily harm.

Court heard both girls, who were in the care of the Goforths, were malnourished and dehydrated when they arrived at the hospital in 2012.

The two-year-old sister survived, but the four-year-old died from a brain injury after suffering cardiac arrest.

Kevin Goforth had been facing the more serious charge of second-degree murder.

The jury made no recommendations as to the time the pair must serve before being eligible for parole.
