Justin Trudeau, First Ministers, Scientists To Gather Nov. 23 To Talk Climate Change

    OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he intends to meet with Canada's first ministers on Nov. 23 in advance of the climate-change conference in Paris.
     
    Trudeau says top scientists will also be part of the meeting with premiers and territorial leaders to work on a strategy for reducing greenhouse-gas emissions.
     
    Trudeau made the announcement following a cabinet meeting today.
     
    He says the scientists will be on hand to brief the premiers as well as federal cabinet members on climate change issues.
     
    The plan is to help develop a "strong and cohesive message" for Canada to deliver at the COP21 climate-change conference, which gets underway in Paris at the end of the month.
     
    Trudeau is also travelling later this week to Turkey for G20 meetings and to the Philippines for the APEC conference.
