Kamloops, B.C., Medical Marijuana Producer Seeks City Council Support

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 11 Jul, 2016 11:54 AM
KAMLOOPS, B.C. — A company looking to produce medical marijuana in Kamloops, B.C., is seeking the city's support.

Dr. Richard Brownlee, president of KamCan Products Inc., has written to council asking for a letter showing that his business has the city's backing.

Brownlee's letter says the company has applied for a license to grow and distribute marijuana, and is currently waiting on word about a pre-licensing inspection.

The neurosurgeon says the company will be fully compliant with Health Canada regulations and could help to reduce drug-related deaths in Kamloops.

Brownlee says the business will produce tax revenue for the city and create between five and 10 full-time jobs.

City council is scheduled to discuss Brownlee's letter at a meeting on Tuesday.
