Latest Surrey, B.C., Slaying Of 60-Yr-Old Man Targeted, But Not Gang Related Say RCMP

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 19 Feb, 2019 02:27 AM

SURREY, B.C. — Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man found critically injured in an apartment in the Whalley neighbourhood of Surrey, B.C.

RCMP say the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case after officers found the 60-year-old victim unconscious in the suite on Sunday.

An RCMP news release says the man's injuries appeared consistent with foul play and he died a short time later in hospital.

Police say the death is an isolated, targeted event and there is no continued risk to public safety.

Investigators say the slaying is not believed to be linked to the ongoing gang conflict in Metro Vancouver.

Part of the apartment complex remained behind police tape on Monday as RCMP continued gathering evidence.
