Liberal Cabinet Ordered To Boycott Ex-liberal Minister Normandeau's Radio Show

The Canadian Press, 17 Aug, 2016 01:20 PM
  • Liberal Cabinet Ordered To Boycott Ex-liberal Minister Normandeau's Radio Show
Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard is ordering members of his cabinet to boycott the radio show of a former Liberal minister charged with fraud.

Nathalie Normandeau held senior positions in Jean Charest's Liberal cabinet and has been charged with conspiracy, corruption, breach of trust and fraud.

Authorities allege the scheme involved money and gifts being exchanged for government contracts.

Normandeau was fired from her previous gig as a radio host shortly after her arrest earlier this year but has since been hired to lead another on-air show in Quebec City starting in the fall.

Current Liberal cabinet ministers have been ordered to refuse all interview requests until her legal matters are settled.

Opposition parties have also signalled they would stay away from her show.

Normandeau, who was also deputy premier for several years, has pleaded not guilty and is set to return to court later this month.
