Life with no parole for 25 years for woman convicted in home invasion case

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 23 Jan, 2015 02:23 PM

NEWMARKET, Ont. — A Toronto-area woman who ordered a hit on her parents has been sentenced to life in prison with no parole for 25 years for first-degree murder and life for attempted murder.

Jennifer Pan, 28, was convicted last month of first-degree murder and attempted murder in the Nov. 8, 2010 attack that killed her mother, Bieh Ha Pan, and left her father, Hann Pan, with a serious head wound.

Her three co-accused — including her on-again, off-again boyfriend Daniel Wong — were also found guilty of the same charges.

Hann Pan wasn't in the Newmarket, Ont., court today, but said in a written statement that though he survived the attempt on his life, he feels as if he died that day.

Prosecutors alleged Pan arranged to have her parents killed in a staged home invasion after they forbade her from seeing Wong.

    More coming.
