Lululemon Sues For Copyright Infringement By Group Of Counterfeiters

The Canadian Press, 07 Feb, 2018 12:47 PM
VANCOUVER — Lululemon Athletic Canada Inc. has filed a lawsuit in the United States alleging a connected group of unidentified defendants created hundreds of online stores selling counterfeit Lululemon goods.

The retailer filed the trademark infringement suit in a U.S. federal court claiming a group of difficult-to-identify counterfeiters believed to reside in China or other foreign jurisdictions worked together to sell counterfeit Lululemon products.

The claim alleges the defendants created online stores to dupe consumers into believing they're visiting authorized retailers, and many used the company's trademark without authorization.

The company wants the court to stop the defendants and transfer the domains to Lululemon.

The claim asks for "all profits" earned by the defendants or damages in the amount of $2 million for every use of the company's trademark.

Lululemon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
