Male Hospitalized Following Stabbing Outside Nanaimo Nightclub

30 Jul, 2019 07:57 PM

An adult male was rushed to hospital with multiple stab wounds following an altercation outside a local night club. The incident took place at approximately 12:10 am on Saturday July 27th in the vicinity of the Old City Station Pub, located at 150 Skinner St.

The victim, age 35, received emergency first aid within minutes by RCMP officers who were on scene. The victim was then transported to local hospital by attending BC Paramedics and remains in hospital after being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators were able to determine after reviewing video surveillance and speaking with witnesses, that an altercation broke out on the street in front of the nightclub, and that the victim appeared to have received his injuries during this melee.

Several persons believed to have been involved in the melee have been identified and are currently in police custody. This does not appear to be a random incident. To date, no charges have been laid and the investigation is being actively investigated, said Constable Gary O'Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.

If anyone has cell phone video or information on this incident they are asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.
