Man Arrested Following Heavy Police Presence In Surrey B.C. Neighbourhood, Elementary School Closed

    J. T. Brown Elementary School in Surrey is closed due to a police incident in the area.
     
    Doug Strachan of Surrey Schools said that J.T. Brown would remain closed until at least noon as a precautionary measure but the incident is unrelated to the school at 12530 60th Avenue
     
    Police cars, tanker trucks, swat team blocked off the street in front of a home at 126 Street and 58B Street.
     
    A man was arrested and led away from the scene in handcuffs around 8:25 a.m. but details of his arrest have not been disclosed at this time.
     
    Residents started noticing a heavy police presence in the area around 6:15 a.m. Police carrying heavy assault rifles and an RCMP armoured vehicle descended on the neighbourhood.
     
    The public is being told to avoid the area as armed officers investigate.
