Man Charged After Accidentally Shooting Girlfriend In Abdomen: Police

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 10 Oct, 2017 11:58 AM
HARTLAND, N.B. — Police say a New Brunswick man accidentally shot his girlfriend in the abdomen Sunday afternoon.

RCMP Sgt. Marc Fortin says police were called to a home in Cloverdale, near Hartland, around 2 p.m. Sunday where they discovered a 19-year-old woman had been shot.

He says the Moncton woman underwent surgery in Fredericton and will make a full recovery.

Fortin says he cannot elaborate on what happened, but investigators have determined the firearm was discharged accidentally inside the home.

Her 27-year-old boyfriend is in custody facing two firearms-related charges.

He says the man is being held until a court appearance Wednesday to face charges of careless use of a firearm and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
