Mounties in Chilliwack say a man is dead after a hit-and-run collision last week.
Chilliwack R-C-M-P says officers found an unresponsive male lying on the side of the road on January 18th after receiving a report.
Police say paramedics also attended the scene and pronounced the man dead.
Mounties say two frontline officers later located and seized the vehicle involved in the crash and the vehicle remains in police custody for further forensic analysis.
The head of a local non-profit organization that helps women and kids in the city says this will make a small dent as more than 180 women were on the wait-list for safe homes at the end of 2022. Michelle Puffer, with SARA for women, says this means that 12 women and their children will find a safe haven and can begin working on a new future.
