  • Man in custody after fatal stabbing in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - One man is dead and another is in police custody following a stabbing at a home in Abbotsford.

Officers were called to a residence on the 1900 block of McCallum Road at 5:47 p.m. Thursday for reports of a stabbing.

A man was discovered with life-threatening stab wounds and rushed to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

A 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.

IHIT has identified the victim of the homicide, but is not yet releasing his name, out of respect for the family.

Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident between people known to each other, with no further risk to the public.

“We’re working on establishing a motive for this sad incident,” says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. “This incident does not appear to be connected to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact IHIT.
