Man Injured After Gunfire Exchange With Police Near Montreal

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 26 Jul, 2016 12:39 PM
VAUDREUIL-DORION, Que. — Authorities say a man has been injured after gunfire exchange with police just west of Montreal.

Quebec provincial police say the incident began when officers in a cruiser tried intercepting a driver, who then refused to stop.

The man's vehicle ended up in the parking lot of a police station in Vaudreuil-Dorion, off the western tip of the island of Montreal.

Police spokeswoman Ingrid Asselin says the man stepped out of his vehicle and pointed at officers with what appeared to be a weapon.

Shots were exchanged and the suspect was taken to hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

None of the officers in the chase or the shooting were injured.
