Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 13 May, 2015 09:58 AM
BURNABY, B.C. — British Columbia's police watchdog is investigating after a man was shot by a Mountie in Burnaby.

Kellie Kilpatrick of the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. says the incident happened at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.

RCMP say officers were responding to a call about an intruder at a home who possibly had a knife.

Mounties say when they arrived, they were confronted by a man who would not comply with directions and an officer shot him.

The man was taken to hospital with what police say appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Police say the investigations office has recovered a knife from the scene.
