WINNIPEG — Manitoba Liberal Leader Rana Bokhari has failed to win a seat in the provincial legislature.

Bokhari, a 38-year-old former lawyer who became leader of the party in 2013, was running in her first election.

She ran a turbulent campaign, lost several candidates to Elections Manitoba's vetting process and at times battled with the media.

Bokhari lost the Fort Rouge race in Winnipeg to NDP star candidate Wab Kinew, a prominent broadcaster and author.
