Manitoba Woman Charged In Mother's Death, Believed In Alternative Care

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 30 Jun, 2016 01:15 PM
BRANDON, Man. — Police in Manitoba have charged a woman in the death of her elderly mother for allegedly stopping her medical care.

The 58-year-old woman from Brandon, west of Winnipeg, is charged with failing to provide the necessities of life.

Officers say the woman believed in alternative forms of therapy and halted her mother's medical treatment between June and November 2015.

They say the mother became increasingly ill and other family members called police.

The mother was taken to hospital, where she later died.

The accused, who has not been named, is to appear in court in August.
