Masked Male Allegedly Chases Woman At Aldergrove Park In Langley

13 Feb, 2020 09:42 PM

Langley RCMP is seeking the assistance of the public with an investigation into a suspicious incident in January.

On January 26th just after 7:00 p.m. a woman was sitting on the bleachers near the southwest baseball diamond in the Aldergrove Athletic Park. A man came towards her and donned a ski mask. She immediately ran and he chased her for a time. She was able to get away.

She returned home and called police. She described the male as Caucasian and he was dressed in all black – hoodie, sweatpants, runners, jacket and cotton gloves.

Unfortunately a canvass of the neighbourhood for surveillance video was not successful and the woman was not able to provide enough detail for a composite forensic sketch.

Anyone with information is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.

This incident also serves as a good opportunity to review some personal safety tips. Be aware of your surroundings at all times. It is not a good idea to walk alone, anywhere, wearing headphones listening to music. Keep your cell phone away in a bag or jacket.

You want to make yourself as unappealing to all criminals as you can. If you do see something, or someone, suspicious call the police and get to an area that is populated with people and well lit.
