Mathura: Two Women Wish To Live Together As Married Couple, Seek Police Help

Darpan News Desk IANS, 18 Feb, 2017 01:35 PM
Cops at Mathura’s Raya police station found themselves in a peculiar situation on Saturday when two women approached them seeking help to live together as a married couple.

They threatened to commit suicide if their wish is not fulfilled.

When police called their families they refused to accept the relationship and disowned the women.

One of the women is a divorcee while another is a student. They are from two different villages of Mathura but are from the same caste.

One of them told the police, “I have been beaten up by my family members for my relations with Meena (name changed) with whom I want to live as a couple. We will marry each other and if stopped we will commit suicide.”

Anil Kumar, in-charge of the police station, told, “Two women approached us and complained against their families for opposing their same-sex marriage. Their kin were called but they were opposed to the relationship.”
