Metro Vancouver Warned Storm Will Bring Wet, Windy Weather

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 13 Nov, 2015 12:21 PM
VANCOUVER — Metro Vancouver residents are being warned about a nasty storm that is forecast to bring heavy rains and blustery winds to the region.

Environment Canada says the storm has moved onto the south coast and is expected to start soaking the area this afternoon, bringing up to 80 millimetres of rain and winds gusting up to 70 kilometres an hour.

The agency warns the North Shore and Fraser Valley will likely see more than 100 millimetres of rain.

Environment Canada says the downpours are likely to prompt flash floods and cause water to pool on roads, and the winds may break tree branches and toss loose objects.

The City of Vancouver is asking residents to clear leaves and debris from catch basins and sewer drains to help prevent flooding.

Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists are urged to use extra caution and give themselves time to get where they are going.
