TERRACE, B.C. — An RCMP officer from Terrace, B.C., expects to be sentenced today after pleading guilty in August to assaulting a teenager during a violent arrest two years ago.
 
Const. Bruce Lofroth was charged when video of the May 2014 arrest surfaced on YouTube several months after the arrest.
 
The video shows two Mounties kneeling beside the teen as he lies on a sidewalk in the northwestern B.C. city.
 
An officer wearing black leather gloves appears to punch the youth's body and head and, after the boy is handcuffed, the officer appears to strike him in the face.
 
The Independent Investigations Office was called in by the commanding officer of the Terrace detachment.
 
An out-of-town judge is to impose sentence.
