Nanaimo Girl Ok After Suspect Punches Her, Grabs iPhone In Sunday Attack

    NANAIMO, B.C. — RCMP are investigating an assault and robbery of a 14-year-old girl in Nanaimo, B.C.
     
    Const. Gary O'Brien says the teen was sitting outside a busy recreation centre in central Nanaimo when she was attacked late Sunday afternoon.
     
    The girl was punched and knocked to the ground as the suspect grabbed her iPhone and fled.
     
    A man nearby gave chase, but the suspect was last seen fleeing by bike.
     
    The young victim suffered bruises to her face and a cut knee but did not require medical attention.
     
    O'Brien says police have found no connection between the girl and her attacker.
