National Energy Board to ask Canadians for input on pipeline safety

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Members of the National Energy Board will hit the road early in the new year to hear what Canadians have to say about pipeline safety.

Chairman Peter Watson says board members and staff will visit every province and the North to hear from Canadians on how the board can improve its pipeline safety program.

The board will also gather input online and then hold a technical conference with experts in late spring.

He says in a speech today to a business audience in Saint John, N.B., that a report will be released by early 2016.

The board is reviewing an application from TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP) for the proposed cross-Canada Energy East pipeline.
